Michael (l.) and Kirk Douglas won fame with roles that often showed a nasty side.

If considering Michael Douglas on screen reminds you of watching a young Kirk Douglas, you’re not alone. The younger Douglas was the guest of honor at the Warner Bros. and Dolce & Gabbana have fun at the Toronto Film Festival, where he brought down the household by sharing details of a recent father-son chat. “Dad called me about six months ago and he said, ‘You know, son, one of my old movies was on television and I was watching it, and I didn’t remember the movie,’ ” Michael recalled. “I said, ‘Dad, you’re 97 years ancient, that happens.’ ” The elder Douglas then said, “No, you don’t know, son. I watched the movie, then I realized it’s not me — it was you!”

Michael realized that “obviously half of me is him, so there are going to be behaviors and mannerisms” that are similar. He also noted how his father’s early nice-guy films went largely ignored, before Kirk got an Oscar nomination for playing a prickly character in “Champion.” Similarly, Michael is probably best known for playing a grubby trader in “Wall Road” and an adulterer in “Honest Attraction.” In his new film, “The Reach,” Michael stars as a businessman who goes on a hunting trip that brings out his nasty side again.

STONE AWED BY A LIZ ROLE

Forget diamonds and furs — Sharon Stone was awed by Elizabeth Taylor’s contributions to humanity. “She had the courage to go in and talk to the regime and say AIDS is a disease, it’s an epidemic, it’s not about sex,” Stone said at the 25th Project Angel Food gala. “It made me feel that I looked-for to be uncommon. I looked-for to use my power and my fame to be a different person.” Stone has been the amfAR Global fund-raising chairwoman since 1995.

A RINKY-DINK TRUMP

Tourists looking to attend the Central Park Horse Show starting next Thursday might have a hard time finding “Trump Rink” — because no such place exists. But that’s what the Wollman Rink is being called in all the promotional material for the upcoming horse show. Right, Donald Trump is a co-sponsor of the neighborly event, and the Trump Organization does manage the Central Park skating focal point. But the Parks Department is firm: The name remains Wollman Rink — as it has been since it was built in 1949 with a $ 600,000 donation from Kate Wollman.
