Vanessa Hudgens has come a long way from her “High School Musical” days.
“Ever since I was really young, I wanted to play a prostitute. It’s gripping as an actor to put yourself in a situation you, in person, would never be in,” she says of her role in Broadway’s “Gigi,” playing the fabulous courtesan in turn-of-the-century Paris.
It was not her only startling revelation in the May issue of Social Life magazine.
“So many times I feel like young women see other women being a specific way or have parents telling them they have to be a specific way,” the 26-year-ancient star says. “It makes them feel trapped. But it doesn’t have to be like that.”
The revival is being performed at the Neil Simon Theatre.
