Anna Wintour, Editor-in-chief of US Rage for the past 26 years, will be honoured at this year’s British Fashion Awards taking place on December 1st. She is set to hear the Outstanding Achievement Award.

British-born Wintour started her career in the magazine industry at Condé Nast as the Creative Director of American Rage in 1983. She then traveled back to the UK where she became editor-in-chief of British Rage in 1986. Wintour later rejoined American Rage in 1988 where she holds her current position as Editor-in-chief.

“There isn’t a person effective in fashion who has not been inspired and influenced by Anna’s leadership,” commented Natalie Massenet, the chairwoman of the BFC. “Anna gives an extraordinary amount of her time nurturing and supporting creative talent around the world whether they are emerging or established names, part of fashion, literature, theatre, film, politics, sport or philanthropy.”

Past winners of the Outstanding Achievement Award include Mahnolo Blahnik and Alexander McQueen.

“As one of Britain’s most successful exports, it is fitting to celebrate Anna Wintour’s lifetime of achievement in London,” clarified Massenet.

The awards ceremony will take place at the London Coliseum on December 1st.
