Williams’ death hits home for Reiner
He’s no meathead. Rob Reiner talked about his pal Robin Williams’ suicide as well as his own lifelong battle with depression on Thursday night’s “PoliticKing With Larry King.” “It hit me in a very, very deep level,” Reiner said on King’s Ora.Tv show. “I have depression. I’ve wrestled with it my whole life,” confessed Reiner, whose hit films include “Stand by Me,” “A Few Excellent Men” and “The Princess Bride.” “I know how hard a struggle that is for a bigwig, and how hard it was for Robin, and it’s so displeasing to hear a bigwig who fought as hard as he did, all these years, to try to manage it, had to succumb to it.”
Reiner said actress Minnie Driver delivered the news of Williams’ death to him while they were effective on a scene for “About a Boy” on NBC. He stressed that depression is a common problem that a lot of people don’t talk about because of an archaic stigma. “You can manage it, and you can live with it,” Reiner insisted. It was revealed Thursday that Williams was also production with early signs of Parkinson’s disease.

MORE OF DE LESSEPS
Countess LuAnn de Lesseps — original off of the sixth season of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of New York” — was blemished with friends dining at Indochine this week then catching the musical about Imelda Marcos “Here Lies Like” at the Public Theater across the road afterward. BLAND IT LIKE BECKHAM
Considering how much David Beckham typically reveals for one of his skin-baring H&M underwear ads, the bathing suit he chose for a day at the beach in Malibu on Wednesday left way too much to the imagination. Still, the soccer star’s hotness was on full show as he played with daughter Harper in the waves.
MILLER RECALLS LIGHT ENFORCEMENT
Speaking at Thursday’s Police Athletic League luncheon, former ABC crime journalist John Miller claimed that then-Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau tipped him off when a certain “shipment” arrived. “That usually meant that someone had dropped off a box of Cubans,” according to cigar smoker Miller. “I said, ‘Mr. District Attorney, as far as I know they’re still banned by tariff and law. And these are kind of like contraband. Should we be doing this?” According to Miller, Morgenthau answered “In law enforcement, when we have contraband, we seize it and then we burn it.”
